Hello everyone! I’m taking part in the Simon Says Wednesday Blog challenge. The theme is, “Anything Goes,” using Stampendous Stamps. To make this card I used the (Q170) Zinnia Stampendous block stamp along with Simon Says Stamp, “Beautiful Day,” stamp set for making the leaves and adding the, “Thinking of you,” sentiment.
To start, I removed the stamp from the block to be able to use my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform so that I would get a good impression using the Distress Inks. The colors I used to stamp flowers are Fossilized Amber and Festive Berries. Once I stamped the flowers I used my Staedtler water color pencils ( 24 pc.) I colored the flowers using a darker shade at the bottom (where naturally the petal would be darkest) of the petal and blended up to go from darker to lighter.
Once I was done with the coloring of the flowers- I cut them out with my scissors leaving a white border around the flowers. I then used some apple green card stock (pack from Wal-Mart) to stamp the some leaves using the Simon Says Stamp, “Beautiful Day,” stamp set. I wanted to add some shading to the leaves to match the shading of the flowers. So, I went in with the same water color pencil with 2 shades of green- a lighter and a darker shade and blended the colors out using a fine watercolor paint brush with little water on it. I also used upward strokes starting from dark to light.
Once my card elements (pieces) were done, I used some white card stock paper to make a top folding card. I also used a stencil with a chevron pattern and taped that onto the card stock so that the stencil would not move. I used some texture paste with a painters spatula and smeared that on top of the chevron pattern stencil. I let that dry for about an hour. Once the texture paste was dry I grabbed two distress stain bottles. I took the cap off and used the spray pipe to add some splashes of picked raspberry and wild honey onto the front of the card.
I now have my background finished. I then add my elements onto the front of the card. I use some foam adhesive on some elements (pink flower) and glue other elements directly onto the card (orange flower and some leaves). Almost done! Next, I grabbed the sentiment, “Thinking of you,” from Simon Says Stamp, “Beautiful Day,” and stamped using black Archival Ink.
To finish the card I add some drops here and there with glossy accents. I had fun making this card because it really did not take long to make! I hope you liked this card and got inspired to use Stampendous stamp products- They have amazing stamp images to color!
